It's a Republican trifecta. I'm Chris Foster, Fox News. There's still nine House races still on call, but the Fox News decision desk can now project Republicans will retain control of the House after flipping the White House and Senate. The House has one fewer Republican now, Matt Gates from Florida resigns after being chosen by President-elect Trump as his Attorney General nominee.
been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee and it was scheduled to vote tomorrow on whether to release its report. Speaker Mike Johnson says when he had a conversation with Gates, Gates' reasoning was to basically give Florida Governor Ron DeSantis plenty of time to hold a special election so they don't threaten the majority in the House.
If we start the clock now, if you do the math, we may be able to fill that seat as early as January 3rd when we take the new oath of office for the new Congress. So Matt would have done us a great service by making that decision as he did on the fly. And so we're grateful for that. But that does not mean that Gates has a clear path to Senate confirmation. And the headline is some of city's most elegant dwellings were once on El Dorado Street, the knob hill of early Decatur. And there's some of these apartment buildings and whatnot. And most of us in our lifetime, El Dorado has been a whole different thing. But many years ago, it was swanky. Oh, yeah, it was.
You go through a list of the homes that were there. They were all the homes of the prominent citizens and, you know, indicator those. There's a whole like overhead shot with like arrows with names pointed to where they were all living at the time. Do you have any idea why we say El Dorado? I don't. Instead of El Dorado. Yes. I don't. That's what I always heard. I think it's been my whole lifetime, but I don't know somewhere. There's an origin of that, right?
Yeah, I guess so. Well, I think you have in movies in that many times. Well, the word is El Dorado. Yes, but not here. No, it's one of the key indicators. You can really flunk that test if you move here pretty quickly and you naturally say El Dorado. I mean, because that's what, you know, that's the name. But, you know, we know what is El Dorado. Well, you can always tell the newcomers or those that aren't familiar when they say Decatur.
That's true. That's true. An El Dorado. So when you put these and you compile these together, obviously from stories throughout the years and probably stories way before you were around, you've got some vault somewhere with all this stuff where it lived.
So these were judges and attorneys and business people. It was sort of a, it was the hit place to be. It was the knob hill. It was. It was the place. And sometimes people forget. And this is mostly East El Dorado. Yeah. That's where the hill is. And right there in front of a St. Pat's church in that area there. And at that time too, you know, before cars were speeding along the street,
that was
these fancy houses on each side, you know, from prominent people. That was pretty impressive to the people who lived in Decatur. That was a place that you had arrived. Yeah, you were a big shot there. All right. So the one picture that's really fascinating to me is, as I mentioned, the one would like the little boxes in the arrows pointing to all these different places where these people did manufacturers and the gay cantoners lived there.
Yeah, in that apartment building that was torn down about 25 years ago, that was kind of the last remnant of that whole knob hill. There was a three story apartment building there and he lived there, which is almost like right next to where he coached in the school. He could walk the school. He had like 100 yards. Yeah, something like that, man. And that was that building when they destroyed that and they demolished it.
That was the last building from those days from years earlier. But he was probably the most prominent citizen in that building, I'm sure. But you look at that and you think, wow. And a lot of that, you look, the old Decatur High School then was built where a lot of those residences were, and then now the Civic Center is there. Sure.
It's kind of evolved from Knob Hill to... So when would this have been kind of in its heyday?
Oh, you're talking only 100 years ago. Sure are more. And that was still there were remnants of it, even all the way through gay killers time. Yeah, that was the last one. But I don't remember any of the mansions. So it's and I've been around for a while that you know, I remember the high school obviously being there and that's where a lot of those residences were in that area there of the what related to be Kenner Jim and that whole block and then
even St. Pat's wasn't there, you know, when this was happening that the church was built there later on, too. But you think you stand at the top of that hill, you know, like when all this was happening, that would be a beautiful sight. Yeah, the pictures are unbelievable. Yeah. All right. Check out the scrapbook section today for El Dorado Street of yesterday. And I mean, way, way, way, way yesterday. Pretty cool stuff. I love all the architecture, too. Those are interesting looking buildings.
I remember this building, of course, you said it came down about 25 years ago. That's the one on the front page today's Tribune. Just remember the interesting had those like turrets, you know, when you were looking at it head on, of course, it wasn't in the shape. It was in its glory days. You know, and I think that's another thing. And we see just looking out this window here, you know, some of the buildings.
They're on East Main of just how they had decorations at the top. You know, the architecture was far different than what it is today. The building down my power was in years ago. You know, we're looking at right now after window. And I see that every day, too, my window. I think, boy, that was a beautiful building. And they don't build buildings like that today.
Now, they're all interesting and the details are unbelievable. And then of course, you also, if you get a high enough up, you get to see all the advertising from years ago still sort of like painted on walls and permanent billboards. It's a fascinating time. It's one of the things I think people love about the Tribune. You close, you know, follow the stuff that's going on today, but you also take a look back. We mentioned yesterday, I've got a press release from the city of Kater. I think there's a press conference Friday.
uh... uh... that's where they're gonna they're not naming a street i think it's important you know i don't cause anybody to panic that you know if you were on the mlk you have to change all of your stuff there there's it's an honorary street uh... uh... uh... name for for jerry pels with you how long have you known this guy for a long time just uh... through his activities as involved in the community it's a very familiar named uh... to most people
And there's someone who just represents the finest part of our cities, someone who's always helping others, someone who's always looking for ways to be involved in the community. And certainly very worthy to have this honor bestowed upon him. And I think his story is interesting, you know, because it started literally with one food basket, one food basket.
And today, they have not only the food bank, but a clothing room. They've got small repairs for homes, micro finance program, partnership with Hope Academy. I mean, they do. They're a full service. They've grown. I mean, I remember, you know, the old place and then there was a place before that, you know, so small and tiny. So, you know,
A person starting with one basket of food can grow into that. Well, I think that's what the Decatur that I've always appreciated about Decatur that someone has an idea and usually it's out of a concern to help somebody else.
And that idea grows, I think, you know, the community food drive, you know, you probably had no idea when this started, how it would grow and everybody thinks that we just came right out of the gates. No, that first year was way different. It takes a while. You know, that I think people
You know, that's an interesting point because you know, they tried to do one in Springfield years ago, you know, with our old company and they it's almost like they felt like they couldn't replicate what we were doing right out of the gates. It was a failure. It's like, no, you got to start. I mean, that you have to build that.
Well, I think sometimes people look at that something when it's really getting underway and going strong and think, you know, well, we couldn't do that. Well, you could if you're willing to start. Yeah, it all begins. But I just, Jerry's a great and I think about speaking of the food drive years ago, we won the governor's award, you know, which is only given away to one thing in the entire state of Illinois. A decatur had won at one time prior.
And the food drive won that award. And I remember Jerry and Debbie Bogle and Kevin, myself, you know, had to go over to Springfield and get peppered with questions by this, you know, whoever was picking, you know, the winners of this thing. And he was just so much fun to work with on that just to see if he got him outside of like Northeast, you know, just his humor and his personality.
I just think they can't do enough to honor people like this. And I'm glad they're doing it while people are still around. Yeah. And that's really important. And then sometimes someone will pass away and they'll talk about all the good things that person did. And yet maybe you should have told him that or heard that while they were here. And particularly people that aren't that don't like that. You know, there are some people that would love to be honored every day. Most of the people who do this kind of work are the last people in the world. They go, no, no, no, no. You know, that's
That's not why I do this, but I think it's nice to do it for them. And hopefully inspire other people to do similar things, even smaller things in your day-to-day life. You don't have to build the Northeast Community Fund. You can drop off a basket to Oasis for the holidays. I mean, you don't have to build a whole big thing. No, and I think we're inspired by people who do this. And I know I am. And I know that in talking with people over the years,
You see these people that just work. They never get any credit. They work tirelessly. They don't do it for the credit. They don't do it for the honor. They do it because they feel a calling to do this to help people. And we have a lot of people in this community. And next week, we're going to be honoring a whole bunch of them and handing out a lot of money for them to be able to do what they do, which is the front lines of helping those in our community that need it most. And so Jerry's been a great inspiration to me. All right.
When you think about post-election, I'm watching this stuff. It's amazing to me how this country swings. You can look at this county and how it swings. It's almost like the politicians, whether they're left, right, blue, red, they run as far as they can over here. And then the country goes, nope, back up. And then we run all the way over here. What we never do is stop in the middle.
Yeah. Yeah. And that's what we've seen in recent years too. And I think there are a lot of people that are conservative and they support conservative politics and politicians. But sometimes it gets too far. One thing they say, and I don't think so. I'm not that far. And so clearly this is the first. And do we know the final vote? I mean, do we know popular vote yet? Has it been like declared? I know they've
cleaned up some of those races and stuff that was hanging out. I would carry Lake lost again in Arizona. But anyway, when they do, if he does win the popular vote, it'd be the first Republican in 30 years to do that. You know, it's three decades. So there is a mandate. I mean, he was voted in. But and so I'm watching all these announcements and everybody going crazy over this and over that. And then yesterday, you think, OK, can't get any sillier and Matt Gates is for Attorney General? Yeah, I was surprised at that. I was.
I think with his record or even lack of record. Yeah, that surprised me. And yet, as you say, you know, a majority of the people who voted this election. But not, but not if they go around confirmation. There's systems put in place to protect the rest of the country with election results. And part of that is, yes, you get a point. Anybody you want or nominate, I should say, and then the Senate decides whether that's a good idea.
And those checks and balances are important. And I think that probably will eliminate Matt yet. Plus. Yeah. I don't think I don't think he he will get through. I don't. I think if they do if they play those shenanigans of skipping the rules and they've done that and both sides have done this in years over history where they don't have to and they can go immediately in. I don't
I'm not rooting for the country to fail. And some of this stuff would be funny to sit back and laugh at if there weren't human beings and people who are counting on our government working. And so we'll see what happens. But this one, several of them, but this one was sort of the cherry on top of going, you can't be serious. Well, this is a head scratcher. It was when I saw that. I thought, I honestly thought that I did not hear that correctly. I didn't. I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention when it came across.
But I think, you know, I want this country to succeed. And I know you do too. And if the people choose this person, I want us to be able to do the right thing. I want us to.
Because if this president fails, if his cabinet fails, then we all fail. It impacts negatively on all of us. Well, we'll see. I did like the fact that President Biden was incredibly gracious the other day. Was that just yesterday? Yesterday, yeah. And there was some normalcy there, at least people shaking hands and taking pictures.
And I didn't expect anything less from him. I thought that he would be, you know, that guy that most presidents have been throughout the history of time. I mean, you know, gracious and not throw fits and not show up or not be a part of it. We'll see how all that unfolds. But I thought that was it would be very easy to feel not that way at all. Well, it was kind of refreshing, as you say, to see that take place, to see shake hands. I also found it refreshing.
When Harris conceded defeat, it's just like this ends here. You know, the election is over. But we have such recent memories. I mean, that's what most people have done throughout the history of our time. None classier ever than John McCain when he was beat by Illinois's own President Barack Obama. There couldn't have been anyone more gracious.
about that to the point of even chastising his own people in the audience there that night, you know, who were rude. Yeah. And so I hope we get back to that someday, someday. But we'll follow and we'll see. And as you have some final thoughts, you can read today in the Tribune about that. We've got now our eyes turned towards the municipal elections in the spring.
Right. Yeah. And, uh, we're going to have a lot to talk about. We have a lot of candidates for city council on that. We have, uh, not enough to have a primary, which is a good thing. You have to have a hundred anymore. No, but it used to be if we would have over six candidates for this. We'd have a primary election and that kept getting triggered, uh, and getting triggered by sort of people who maybe were serious about running, maybe not serious. And then the county's got to spend on, you know, Josh has to run the election.
You know, if there's one more candidate and we've got to do it twice, it's twice the expense. And so I think it's fair the way they have it now. You've got plenty of selection without having to have that extra primary thing to knock one person off or two people off and then have the general election. You're going to have choice. Yeah. And I think that I had no problem at all.
when they reduce the reduce the number when I ran if he had over two candidates for mayor, you had a primary and that we had four. So we had to eliminate two and then move on to the general election. And at the same way with the city council, he had
If you had more than six candidates for the three seats, you had a primary election. And I think one time, in fact twice, I remember, there was just one candidate
that decided to run, and he even admitted on one occasion that he ran just to throw it into a primary, just to cost the county money. And they fixed that when they opened it up a little bit. Absolutely. And it's been weird too. Do you remember what it felt like every other election cycle locally, we were fighting, or there was a group fighting to change the form of government? It felt like there was a window of time where that was just constantly being
throw it out there. Yeah, well, yeah, it was when certainly when I was mayor, they wanted to change it and have different precincts and older manic form of government. Yeah, and that was there was a big push there and had a fairly strong group. At least they're very vocal at the time. It's kind of faded away now. It is. I don't hear too much about that. Yeah, it's it is strange. I guess you just go through
phases. I mean, I don't want to like people felt very passionately about that on one side. And to me, it's always been I like I think if you've talked to people who have been in that form of government, I remember our former city manager, Ryan McCready came from Springfield where they have an older manic form of government.
and he was the equivalent of a city manager there and then city manager here. And he would tell you often and publicly that this form we have here is far better for getting things done. Well, and you represent everybody. I mean, if you have one person representing you because of your district or whatever it is and that person doesn't like you or doesn't concern, where do you go? You go to the others that will go to your own representative here. And this way, everybody is looking out for everybody.
Everybody serving on councils looking out for all of Decatur and it's not just a specific part of Decatur Yeah, so I think that's a good thing Yeah, I haven't heard that for a while though I was thinking about that the other day It was like it used to be that there were always these side issues in and around some sort of council race and you had people pitted against I think people just like to argue I really do But that we're not so much anymore now. It's like are people gonna step up and run people
Yeah, and I think also it reflects on the quality of person. Regardless of what form of government you choose or you have in your community, the person who's running for an office, the experience involved, the commitment involved, it's about the people more than the office itself. Absolutely. Well, we're going to get through Thanksgiving and the holiday, and then we'll start trying to get all these folks in so that people can get to know them. And we can get to know them. I know a few. I don't know all.
But it is going to it matters. It matters. And I people don't believe this, but I swear to God, I do believe it that it matters more who's on your city council and who's on your school board in a lot of ways than who's in Washington, D.C. Yeah, you're talking about property taxes. You're talking about so many things that directly affect you in your pocketbook, your water, your garbage, your, I mean, everything in your day to day life. And it's not to discount the importance of what happens in Washington, D.C. That can very much have a daily impact on your life.
But it's always the dichotomy of the lack of people who show up in a municipal election versus a general election. Yeah, I think so. And I think we need to realize that the people representing us here aren't doing it for the most part to get ahead and build a career in doing this. Some of them are. They're generally, you can see them a mile away. Yeah, well, that's true. Yeah. Yes, I'm talking about you, Bill Mitchell.
Let me write that down. I remember. I miss Bill. I really do. Bill famously got in the elevator with the city manager and on the way up in the elevator told him what a great idea that this he had on the agenda night. He was fully supportive of it, but I'm voting against it.
or show up late for a council meeting to avoid a vote. I was detained. I couldn't get. Oh, those were the fun days. I miss Bill. I do. I like Bill. All right. Let's do this, Paul. We'll say goodbye. You'll be back for your last visit this month next week because we'll have Thanksgiving the week after that. But thank you for everything you do. Great stuff.

We are going to have the majority. We're celebrating that. House Speaker Mike Johnson is joining the Red Wave. That gives Republicans the majority again in the lower chamber. 218 to 208 for Republicans over Democrats with nine congressional races left to be decided. Matt Gates nominated for U.S. Attorney General under President Trump.
But the road to his confirmation in the Senate could be very, very rocky. Gates rose to power back in 2016 representing Florida's Western Panhandle. He has been a staunch supporter of Trump, but he's had some controversy in his own. The House Ethics Committee was investigating allegations. Gates was part of a scheme tied to a sex trafficking of a minor.
Now, Gates has long denied these allegations. And last year, the Justice Department ended its probe of the matter. This is Mark Meredith, Phillip, a champ Lindsey Vaughn says she's coming out of retirement to rejoin the U.S. ski team at the age of 40. America's listening to Fox News.

Today's light chance of rain in the morning cloudy and high 54 tonight mostly cloudy low around 41 for Friday. Partly sunny and your 56 Saturday. Some fog to start then mostly sunny and your 58 current temperature in downtown Decatur 49 degrees. Your WSOI time is 733.
on sports on WSO Y 13 40 AM and 103.3 FM streaming live at now Decatur dot com. Each and every weekday morning we check in with Mark tougher and tougher on sports. I was just maybe a little tougher test than we thought last night for the Alignite.
Yeah, and I think it was mostly a test of style. I think first of all, I think for some people last night was probably the first time that they've seen the new version of the Alumni basketball team. The first two games were streamed and I've been told by many fans that if a game is streamed, they're out.
So that's dealer's choice. Last night, the Illinois Oakland game was on big 10 network. And when it started, it looked like Illinois might cruise along with a pretty entertaining performance. And then the Oakland Grizzlies locked into their preferred style and the game turned a little bit ugly. Oakland likes to slow the game down and they play a lot of zone defense in this
Young Alignite team didn't see much zone in their first two games, particularly a steady diet of it like they did last night. And Illinois started turning the ball over and missing shots.
And the game was a lot closer than I thought. They won 66-54, but the ugly part came in the form of 18 turnovers and 28% three-point shooting. Will Riley, the reigning Big Ten freshman of the week, got off to a fast start, and then really completely stalled. Kasparas Yaka-Sionis made some pretty passes, but also too many turnovers. Ben Hummerkhouse, who's one of their best shooters,
was one of only two Alana and double figures, but he was just two of seven from three, missed some wide open corner threes, which is really his specialty. Illinois's best player by far was their center, Thomas Lavi's Eva Sitch, who set up in the middle of the Oakland zone and was almost unstoppable there. He made nine of 14 shots finished with 20 points, six rebounds, and four steals. They should have gone to him a lot more than they did.
It wasn't pretty but it was a good learning experience for the Alignite because at some point a team will throw an extended zone at them again and they'll have this to fall back on. It will be a very different style the next time Illinois plays which is next Wednesday when they go to Birmingham to face the number two team in the country Alabama.
They will be fast. They will be intense. They have a deep roster, very talented. So that's next Wednesday at eight o'clock and another TV assignment that won't please people. That game will be on the SEC network. All right. On the other side of the break with Mark Tupper and Tupper on sports boxing. That's something we discuss all that often, but there's a big event happening this week. This look at Tupper brought you by First National Bank with locations in Pana, Assumption, Taylorville, Blue Mountain right here, indicator.
Hi, this is Dale Coley from Dale's South Lake Pharmacy and Coley's Corner Drugs. Let me tell you about my friends at First National Bank. Reliable customer service with a personal touch is important for my stores and the team at FMB has been amazing. They helped us get set up with the types of financial accounts that we need to make sure we're always taking care of. With our service providers, payment gateways, vendors and our very valued customers. They're always available to me with two convenient locations in Decatur. Thanks, FMB. Member FDIC.
We're back here with Mark Tupper and Tupper on Sports. All right. This might be the most watched boxing match in the history of boxing.
Yeah, if it comes off, and I'll get to that in a minute, every once in a while, there's a kind of goofy made-for-TV sports event that gives you pause. You know, you say, should I watch this because it could be something people will be talking about, or is it just too gimmicky to bother with? And one of those is Friday night when 58-year-old Mike Tyson climbs into the boxing ring to take on YouTube. YouTuber turned boxer 27-year-old Jake Paul.
from the Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Netflix. And you know, if you already pay for Netflix,
It's a freebie. So I'm going to check it out and, uh, and won't feel fleeced if it ends quickly or oddly or controversially. Plus I kind of still like Mike Tyson and kind of dislike Jake Paul. And I think it would be fun to see Tyson load up one and drop the pretty boy in his tracks. Uh, and I was asking Nick, will either of you guys be watching this and he tells me you both will. Yeah. I feel a little guilty admitting it, but yes, I know.
It's got a little bit of the Evil Knievel Snake River Canyon feel to it. But I watch that too. So I feel like Geraldo should be ringside. They've got some interesting provisions in place, 14 ounce gloves, rather than the 10 ounce gloves, which would be standard for a heavyweight fight, eight rounds instead of 10 or 11. I can't imagine it going more than about three. But and Tyson's had all these medical issues, bleeding ulcers, back issues.
And I think there's some question whether or not there's a possibility he would fail the pre-fight physical, which I hadn't thought about that, but I guess it's something to watch for. 60,000 plus fans expected a $15 million gate. And it's supposed to start at seven, which means the final start probably at nine and 30. I know there's some undercards. I know a couple of women are going to box.
So we'll see, but I already get Netflix. So I don't have to any up 79, 95 to tune in. All right, Mark, we'll talk to you first thing tomorrow morning. Mark Tupper and Tupper on sports. The women's fight will be the best fight of the night more than likely. I mean, just pure fighting. It certainly got the pedigree and it certainly got the, I mean, if it lives up to what it was last time. Yeah, usually I'm the guy that tunes in early on the pay per views and watches.
And there's usually one or two fights in front of no crowd that are like, wow, people would have really liked that if they saw it. But this one, there should be butts in seats and it should cause there's not a real big undercard, right? Probably not in the Netflix portion. I mean, they're only hyping these two fights. Yeah. And the quick thing about Tyson's health, he lost 27 pounds when he had that ulcer thing. And so he looks looks
way leaner than he looked beforehand. Like, I mean, if you watch, there's that three part episode. If you're interested, I know there's a lot of stuff on tonight. Um, but I'll tell you, towards the end, he looked pretty mean to me. I mean, like he did not look like he was suffering. No, for all accounts, he looks like he, he looks like he's in the best shape of his life. I mean, or certainly at 58, you know, as good as you're going to get. Yes. And I told you that his sparring partner said it's the hardest hitting guy he's ever sparred
I'm 58 year old Mike Tyson. But here's the funny scene that I forgot to tell you about. And I don't know if you're going to watch that or not. But is Jake Paul trying to get a Nintendo set up on an old TV to play the Mike Tyson game? Yeah. You know, just trying to get it to work. And then once he gets in complete frustration that he can't beat Mike. The Mike Tyson just keeps killing him the entire video game. Love that. And he's just getting frustrated. It's hilarious. And it's very
pattern driven. So you can beat him once you figure it out. Yeah. The main card. I was at the full fight card. It looks like there's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. OK. Yeah. 80,000 people in attendance. The event will start at seven o'clock our time. And my guess that they'll ring walk about 10 o'clock.
I was going to say 9 30 seemed optimistic. Yeah, 10, 10 o'clock is generally the early side of that. Well, the great thing is unlike pay per view, watch it tomorrow. You can watch it. You can get up tomorrow. And if it's if it's a dud and you miss it tonight, okay, you didn't miss anything. If you get up in the headline tomorrow as Tyson shocks world or Tyson out in the first round, you can go right into Netflix and watch it. Yeah. They're they're speculating how much they're getting paid. Jake Paul.
made a comment. He's like, I'll take 40 million to knock out a legend. So yeah, we're speculating these guys are probably going to, uh, I read that it's the biggest payday of Mike Tyson's career timing wise. It makes sense. Like Michael Jordan made the most money for Washington.
It's just that logical progression. Yeah, what they make today versus what they made 25 years for sure. So, yeah, it's captured my attention. I thought they did a nice job with the lead in to give you sort of a backstory to whatever you want to root for. Should be fairly boring fight, though. I hope it's not, but I anticipate. I know what you're saying, and you're probably right. I don't want to believe it, but you're probably right.
Yeah. But the cool part is most of the people that watch boxing don't know what they're looking at. So you'll hear the people go, and it's like, no, that was deflected or went off the side of the glove. But it sounded big when you're 79,662 people away.
Yeah, I'm not a joy to watch boxing in public because they're like, oh, and I'm like, he blocked that. That sound was his glove. You guys are going nuts. It didn't. He didn't feel it. I know based on an unrocking and Apollo. All right. Let's take the break. I want to tell you about the Milliken MBA program night program. There's a new video up on not a cater. I'm going to give you the details because there's a deadline approaching. We'll do that on the other side of the break. Stay tuned.

One of the great programs at Milliken University is their MBA evening program. And it is built for the working adult. So I mean, you already have a job or a career and you're looking to advance to next level. And yet you still got to keep working and paying the bills and you can do this at night. And there is a the next
cohort is the deadline is December 1st, which we're rapidly approaching. I know it doesn't feel like it, but you're going to blink and Thanksgiving will be over and we will be at December 1st. And there's a video up on nadakita.com. Easiest way to find it is just click on the Milliken link in the boxes, about halfway down, and it'll be like your second story there that you can watch. And there are several interviews, literally, with people you'll know from the community.
one a police officer, one a economic development guy, and a former Milliken employee former employee of ours years ago. Local people, three different stories, three different ways while they're taking advantage of this evening MBA program. It's really cool. Yeah, we've had discussions about that program. And from the perspective of a student that was actually going through it and from the university,
It seems if this is something that could benefit your life, it seems extremely manageable. It seems like you're not juggling a whole lot of things. You have your life. You're juggling. But in terms of the coursework, it's we're tackling this thing. And then we're into this thing is very sequential. It's a good value for the money. Six, eight week units containing two courses each. So you move through the units and the courses as a team start to finish. And then that's a total, I think, of 40 credit hours to get your MBA. And you can get signed up.
The link is right there in the story with the video as well. Sometimes not having an MBA disqualifies you from ever getting to talk about a job that you otherwise would be qualified for. And sometimes an MBA literally just by having that piece of paper gives you an instant opens a door for you that you might not increase in the money that you're making or inside your own internal organization. Exactly right.
So Lindsey did a nice job on the video. You can check it out at nadakitter.com. And if you're interested, there is a link right there in the story above the video where you can go right to the NBA evening page on Milliken University's website and you can take it from there. I like the diversity of the of the of the students do. Yeah, me too.
Yeah. So, and it was weird. It was like, cause Lindsey goes, oh, well, I knew all three of you. It's like, that's cool. What a work sound like that. I know you. My interview, you know, my interview. Yeah. Right. That's cool. Yeah. It's a good video, but it's also a great program. So check it out and go to nadakator.com. All right. I'm excited about high school. I don't know enough about, you know, the high school football teams to know who's favored, you know, this Saturday, who will possibly move on. Maybe they both I don't know.
See, I think something magical happens sometimes. I experienced the first day in the year that, uh, Meroa and St. Teresa played separately over in champagne. Same. Yes. And so I'm there with one team, my school where I work and I'm like, yeah, that's what I obviously want to win. But I equally magically transformed into the other fan, too. Yeah. Without any institution. They weren't playing each other, which has, but I mean, yeah, my point is,
I know I'm rooting for this week and I'm excited about both of them. It just brings you right there. It's hard for me to explain to hardcore sports fans. The advantage of being a fair weather fan. The fair weather fan, while you might call us limpy and weak and we get the same thrill across multitudes of teams and sports because we're not so narrowed in that this one thing has to happen for us to be excited about.
That's certainly a valid perspective. And I've evolved with my fandom that I have my teams and I live and die by that. But for me to have any sort of enjoyment, I leave that at the door and I watch
other team. I'm watching the box and they're not good. I'm watching the football box and they're not, you know, and it's like, I'm having fun with it because you can find something freeing about just being able to joy the moment. Like, and not even to get caught up in a division. Like, I don't understand people that are okay, you're a bears fan your whole life. Die hard bears, not you, but just in general.
like you can't be happy for the Lions, because nope, you know, it's like, nah, see, I can do this. I can absolutely say that's great. Well, you also have the others that go, well, if my team's not there, I want my division represented. It's like, all right. And there's others that go, don't you dare trade a player in the same, you never. Yeah. Anyway, I'm excited. I'm rooting for both Mount Zion and Mero foresight this weekend. They will be on WDZ, just as a programming note.
on S. O. Y. Starting at 11 30 on Saturday is the W. W. D. W. S. Football pregame show that we share with our champagne market and then Michigan State at a line. I football 12 30 pregame. Brian Barnhart. The crew will have the whole thing and then W. D. Z. Are our 10 50. Our sister station at one forty five is the pregame for Quincy Notre Dame at
And then Mount Zion at Breeze Central for 45 or immediately following the conclusion of the Mero foresight game. There might be some lap over if there's over time or whatever, but it should work out to get the full both games or full game and most of full game. That's right. Is the way it should work out back to back. And that's Mount Zion to Breeze Central. Nice. Good luck to all of them. Why would you not want them to go as far as they can go?
And I don't rivalries are great, but
But it's good for them. It's good for the community and good for, you know, these kids, the lifetime memories they create. It's always fun to the banter around the community in the following years. It's like, Oh, do you remember that MacArthur team of 01? Oh, I know. St. Teresa team of 2024. I mean, whatever it is, you know, it's like, Oh, you remember the Mount Zion basketball team we had in here last year that grew up on the same Colesack playing basketball, going the street and now they're going, you know, it's so cool. Yeah.
That made it fun for us to track. Yeah. Absolutely. So this weekend. Check it out. Line I fans high school fans got a little bit of everything. All right. Next got your three day forecast. We'll be back with more next hour. Debbie Boga will join us in the United Way. And we have the first mid ticket window open football tickets tailgate passes for this Saturday's game. All right, we're back here on a Thursday. Kind of dreary looking out there, but that's okay. The Christmas star from HSHS St. Mary's Hospital, important to note, the commercial says you just go to nauticated.com to give. There is a link at the bottom of the page. You'll see it. It's a beautiful picture of the star and you click on that link and it will take you directly to the HSHS page where you can make that donation.
very easy. Yeah, it's not. I just want to not actually registering through not OK. I'm you're going from now to the page where you can do it at 50, 100, 500,000, whatever tribute gift. You know, they do the ceremony where they read all the names. You know, you can leave the name billing address. I mean, it's secure payments. Very simple and easy to do. But just look for that at the what I always called the flipper. But down there at the big thing at the bottom of not OK. We'll call it
about that. That's fine. I still it's been flippered to me for like 20 years for me, too. Whatever you want. Anyway, it's just a rotating thing of stuff that we're involved in in the community. But simple and give it's a very nice thing. And that ceremony is very nice where they read all the names. And it's it's just a nice event. That's so pretty. When it and actually they're going to light it up is a Thursday, December 5th at 6 p.m.
So it's coming pretty quick. Oh, yeah, it's going to sneak up on you. And then I get to stop at the corner there every morning. Like I I root for a red light. Yeah. It is cool to come around and see that right there up in the sky. All you know, there's a few things that we have like that that always just add that little bit. Yeah. Just a little bit. So it'll be up like I guess December 6 that morning. Nice. Looking forward to put that on the calendar. OK. So a couple of quick things.
What is this F1? I keep getting these invites. The first one came through American Express. They're doing something at O2 with all the cars, all the drivers, the first time in one place, I guess, in February.
And you always got when you look at the English, they do the year and the month and it throws you. I feel dyslexic for him because it's not like I've had to remake ads for over there over and over because they're like, what is October 17? It's 17 October. Yeah, no doubt about it. Yeah. But they're going to be in a big place. Yeah. Is this the kickoff? Because next season is the 75th anniversary of F1. That's exactly what it is. It is basically we're rebooting the whole league in a way. The cars are going to be different.
Lineups are going to be different. We have new everything. And this is the big fan. Now, will this be something we can watch? Because I'm sure they're trying to sell tickets to me like I'm going to get on a plane and go to one. Yeah, I'm sure of it. OK. Yeah, why wouldn't I just don't know where that would be? Probably certainly on their app and probably on their YouTube channel. Yeah, I get you're probably right. You could watch it.
probably live literally on F1 would be my guess. Yeah. But that timing, you know, if they're doing it there, I don't know what, you know, what that would be here. Yeah. And what is the venue? Why do I know the two is the big arena? It's the Wembley is there like old classic, but O2 is their other big one. OK. Is it indoor outdoor? That's outdoor. OK. Is a multipurpose indoor arena in the center of the I said, look,
I said arena. Yeah, it's indoor. Yeah, Wembley is their big out. Yeah, I don't really. I just try to picture old one. So like, you know, the picture of it too. Yeah, I'm looking at it. And there is a whole O2 entertainment district that this is in and commonly known as the O2 built under the millennium dome was renamed the O2 anyway. So this is evidently different than what they've done in the past.
Yeah, they do a lot of like Tyson Fury fights there a lot. It's, you know, it's weird about that building is it looks like the normal dome, but then as those yellow spikes that come like, what is that? What is the action going on? But they've really built up that area. Right. Right. So you get up. I tune to go in there probably 40, probably 30,000 people have the opportunity and unless they have a component of it where people can flow in and flow out.
But I imagine it's going to be a show. Yeah, that's the way it's sort of being billed to me. I first heard from it, like I said, from American Express. They were offering tickets like ahead of time VIP experience or whatever. It's like, well, I'm not going to spend the money. It would take to go to London and go to O2 to look at cars on the ground that don't move.
No, but if you're there, I'm already there. Yeah. And if you wanted to build a vacation around it or something, you bet. All right. Coming up on top of the hour, we've got a lot to get to in the final hour, including the first mid ticket window. We give away final home game for the University of Illinois tickets and tailgate passes coming up next.
