The acquisition of US Steel by Nippon Steel would place one of America's largest steel producers under foreign control and create risk to national security and critical supply chains, President Biden says. There was speculation right after the New Orleans New Year's Day terror attack that the Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas that same day could be connected. But so far there's no known link. The only person found dead was the driver who police say shot himself inside the truck before it blew up injuring seven people. He's been identified as an active duty U.S. Army soldier Matthew Livelsberger who was home on leave.
Two sources familiar with the investigation told the New York Post, Livelsberger left his Colorado Springs home following an argument with his wife over infidelity. His wife, who had a baby daughter with Livelsberger, reportedly told him she knew he'd been cheating. The source told the post. Good morning and welcome to the Friday edition of buyers and company show and tell with Angela back from the citrus bowl and the big align I win. We get a first hand accounting company starts now. Buyers and company W. S. O. Y. 13 40 A. M. 103. 3 FM.
Good morning and welcome. We're back here on what is a deceivingly pretty day, right? We went from kind of gray and yucky to blue skies and sunshine. Yeah, today's supposed to be mostly sunny. You're going to see some wind. I'm telling you, the sun helps.
it's psychologically I think it's physically I think there's you know science behind that but but more than anything it's just oh this looks horrible to go outside or oh look how bright and sunny it is and it just gives you a little bit of armor. That's right. And I don't even see the steam or the smoke stacks blowing crazy like
they were earlier. They were pointing almost down. Now they're just kind of boom. Look, we're going to have some weather. Let's hope it's the least amount, but we're going to have some, let's just get into mindset. Let's drive accordingly and be careful. You know, it's both ends of that spectrum.
I've worn this every year. It's the speeders and the people who think that they've got a big truck, so it's like impervious to ice or whatever. But it's also the people that are going 30 miles under the speed limit. And you're not in a golf cart. Hey, you can touch the pedal. Yeah. You don't have to just let it naturally roll. So there's one or the other. You know, let's just just all meet somewhere in the middle and be happy. That's right. And safe. Good morning and welcome. We are back here in a Friday. Don't forget we do have the line. I take it to the next basketball game at home, which we next Wednesday.
and we'll be giving those away. Maybe we'll do that Monday on a really cold, snowy day, give you something to look forward to in a couple of days when the weather's. And they'll have a nice new ranking, I'm sure, after beating a top 10. Depends on what happens Sunday, right? Everyone will let down games. I don't know. We'll see.
But man, the cop runneth over. It would orange and blue if you weren't a line-eye fan this past week. It's been one of the last 24, 48 hours. They did something on a basketball court that they haven't done since 1990.
They did history making and they won a bowl game, you know, against a higher ranked team in front of what looked like just a frenzied crowd and a lot of fun at the camping world stadium down there in Orlando. You guys drove down. Yeah, we left Friday seven o'clock at night. Still recovering.
Yeah. And then we drove back Wednesday. We left at about 9 30 in the morning and got home just before midnight. So you left like the next morning. Yeah. Yeah. OK. So we didn't even stay up for ringing in the new year. We were beat. It was just emotional.
Okay. So did, what did the walkthrough step by step? Cause I felt like I had the same emotional release that everybody in the stadium did it with a relied I fans when that long run gets broken. You know, when you feel like, like that relief valve just goes, okay. Cause it was a nail biter. It was close.
you know, but and they had to come back as they often have, you know, this year, very good at it. There was a lot of contention and a lot of tension and a lot of the coaches and the memes and all that. Let me just start with. OK, a lot of Jesus. Let's start with the hotel. You guys ended up being at the team hotel. Now is that our purpose or accidental? Actually, the
I believe our hotel room was booked before we knew, but, um, and then when we found out that was cool. So, um, you see them walking around. They're trying to be very, you know, kind of blend in, but they've got their cheese. Yeah. Yeah. They're big and, um, she's playing football and why are you wearing sponsored here from the ball game? Your slides.
but you know, just they were trying to. But you'd be like, Oh, but you don't know who they are. I told you they're unis on. I mean, I would know who Luke was. But other than that, it was really hard to figure out who was who. But you would see him.
They were doing the Richard Simmons. Notice me, but don't notice me. Yeah. And backpacks, you know, with the big eyes. And then, you know, you had your, your cheer team there and the band. And I mean, it was just, I mean, the band came in to camping world with seven buses. Oh, wow. Wow. Just the band. Well, you know, that's an important part. You know, they put them at the opposite end zones. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It is a big part. And I will just say our band
is amazing. Okay. Let me ask you this question because I agree. I think one of my favorite things to do at an Illinois football game is to get there early because we used to have seats down, you know, pretty close to the field and watch the band come in and all that they do with the little traditions they have, the little
You know things they do out of like superstition and getting all it's fun and it's awesome And they're really good now my question is I'm assuming that most universities of this size that have an athletic program have a band that's really good But the notes don't mean the same to you because they don't stir your soul because you don't have the history with it It's like when the line I breaks into their thing on national TV, you know in the you know, yeah
But I don't have that. I'm sure the people that are Alabama fans are the exact same way, right? Oh, yeah. Well, when I'm sitting in the stadium, you know, we got tickets. So we were up on the second tier, which was I've never really sat there ever. And it was so cool just to see everything from that perspective. But we were in the same kind of side where both bands were. But watching it on replay, because, of course, we have to do that.
could hear our band so much better than I could hear their band because they'd go to commercial or there'd be a time out. And maybe I was just listening for it. But here's the coolest thing is our band comes in from like the player side. They use the entire field and most bands come in from the end zone. And you don't really realize that until you see it. Our band is giant. And so our band is a marching band.
And our band moves the entire time they are on the field. And, you know, so I'm watching theirs. I'm like, Oh, yeah, OK, great. They're making a little tree. What else cute. Nice. Nice. They have a little annoying band leader that was like it had to be held back from.
And you know, they take up a small amount of the field compared to our band, but seven bosses were. Yeah. So when I'm watching our band, I want
them to see how amazing our band is. I mean, our band makes the whole United States of America and then puts Illinois and doing that. And then they go into the star with the whole red, white and blue last number of years. They were the best thing on the field. For sure. Yeah, there's been decades where you just stay for you stayed for the chief. And that's that's what you stayed for. OK, so go back to the hotel. You're there as a team hotel. How far from the stadium? Are you like right there? No.
Orlando is not really. It's not super. I think 20 to 30 minutes. Not bad. Not. And even after the game, we got back pretty quickly. I mean, we stayed for a little bit and talked and kind of let some of the traffic. But I will have to say that the fans that were parked next to us now, we were parked in a place that was mostly a line. I fans, but you had some South Carolina fans and they were very, very cool.
And the people that park next to us were South Carolina fans and they were just very gracious. And hey, good game. And they talked to us for quite a bit at the end of the game. And they were they were really, really cool. That's the experience when you get that friendly swap. Yeah. Coach might get them fired. So you get to the
the stadium. Yeah. And how early do you get there? Oh, we got there. Okay. So kick off. It was what time three ish their time. And you got there 11 30. Yes. Now, within the stadium open. Ooh, that's a good question. Usually two hours before kickoff is a general. Yeah. We were hearing them like warm up for the national anthem. Yeah.
But we got in there fairly early. So what was there anything outside the stadium? Were there any experiences? So they had like you and I had their own special. The both teams did where you could pay to go into this tailgate. We didn't do that. But yeah, there was kind of like a grange grove, but not nearly that cool, but just where hordes of people could go and you could get your cheese at hat and.
Yeah, but we just stayed and tailgated. So roughly speaking, what was the ratio? Oh, they had way more fans than we would say. I would say 65 35 is kind of what we were thinking. Because when you looked at the actual stadium from our
perspective. They, they came around that bowl a lot further. So they had maybe three. Okay. Yeah. Now higher tier. Way more people. The noise I could not tell. Oh, that's good. Watching. I mean, it didn't feel like that number. It felt like the line I crowd was really loud.
So you're going in and because you're 30 hour drive for them is like seven hours or whatever. I mean, six or seven. We were talking to you. So that's a lot. I mean, not surprising at all. So the atmosphere, the, you know, how nervous were you before the opening kickoff just, you know, what was it like sitting there? Well, even with the smaller crowd, you're still talking about tens of thousands of
I'm afraid of heights. So we're up on the on the balcony part, I guess. So I'm I'm tentatively walking down and holding on and we're sitting in the front row and I'm like, I have to move back one because I want to be able to stand up and cheer and get crazy. It's until they kick off, I just feel like I'm going to vomit. And then it just kind of
It kind of explodes, right? Yeah. And then the first guess, you know, and I'm still doing what I did when I was in college. You know, I've got my hand up with my bracelet and I'm making the noise. We used to do it with keys, but you know, keys don't do that anymore. They believe in that key. Yeah. So I have my I have my charm bracelet and I do that. And then, you know, my daughter is in the orange crush and she's in the student section.
So she's doing all of what she would do as a student. She's working. Yeah, she is. She's working. So when the team would come out or when their band would play, she would turn around.
That's right. And she was doing all the stuff. Now, does this the university pay for all of that for like the orange crush to be there? Like the orange crush wasn't there, but she was just doing what she would do. Oh, I got you. Because I noticed I was watching some of the Fiesta Bowl and they kept pointing out that like Taco Bell paid for like 150 students to be there on each side of the ball. I didn't just didn't realize. I don't think that happened. So the band, who else? Just the band and football team?
the band is playing a certain song. She's got her little stuff. And then and then when they get a penalty, the band will play. You can't do that. And then so we're all doing that. And then, of course,
when they would go up, I started doing this one because I wanted them to miss their field goals. I'm going nuggets, nuggets. And so I think we were probably like the only four people doing that. No kidding because the cheese of people were going wrong. Not today. Not today. Cheese it. Cheese it. So how many cheeses did you run into? Was it just everywhere you looked? Yeah. So, um,
So they had a complimentary Jesus. Well, I wouldn't there are no, but we came. I went down with two boxes of Cheezits and two different flavors that actually I was talking about when I was at work. And so one of one of my group power people for Christmas bought me two boxes of Cheezits and I was going to bring Cheezits anyway. And I mean, yeah, it was they they were selling special boxes of Cheezits at the merchandise.
thing in the hotel that you could pre-buy before you went into the stadium, which was really cool. And then they were making special flavors of Cheez-Its to sell certain kiosks at the stadium. And then the big, big, beautiful Cheez-Its. Oh, my God. Yes. I was like, that is a lot of Cheez-Its. That's right. Oh, kettle of Cheez-Its. It was, yeah.
It's amazing. I did take in the whole experience. That's great. Look, those are lifetime memories and to come away with a dramatic win just seals. I literally was tearing up at the end. I was like a minute or so left and my husband turned back to me and he's like, we're they're going to run out of time. They're not getting the ball back. We can.
We can take victory formation and I just put my hands in my head. I'm like, are you kidding? Oh my God. Oh my God. I'm literally going. Oh my God. And it was, uh, it was amazing. It was just, I'm, I'm happy I went. Um, yeah, I remember we talked about this and you guys are kind of you and you're like, yeah, well, and there's it's just, it's
not my favorite place. Sorry for all those people who love it. But it's just not my favorite place. And why would you want to be in Florida and Orlando is kind of in the middle. But so the people we went with.
He turned back to me and he goes, how do you like Florida? I'm like, it's my favorite state and I love Orlando. And so, yeah, I was. You were fortunate because you got the whole sort of thing, the anticipation, the surprise. I would let's call it a slightly surprising victory.
the atmosphere. You felt it. You've relived the old days. Yeah. And then you got the wind. Yeah. And you got the nice banter back and forth about the wind. So nothing got stepped on. Yeah. No, but what they had and the moment where I was like, Oh my God, I'm so happy for Angela and all of the line I fans that were down there, the hardcore fans.
they had, I think it was third and two or third and three. They had that down. And then McCray picked up that 60 yard game. It's like literally just like, OK. And now you just don't do anything stupid. And that's right. And that's when you could see their fans kind of
like 70 percent stadium. Yeah. And you know what? That changes the actual. So I've been to a lot of playoff games that have ended good or bad. Sometimes when it comes down to the last play, you're walking out of the place and your heart is pounding and you're just and then the opposite is you're you're sad. Exactly. When you know you've got it and you're in victory formation, that adrenaline peaks for a minute. Here's what the friendly people in the parking lot actually said to Angela.
Okay. Great. That's like it. They have no energy left. The Southern hospitality for the people around us was really cool. So it as it does in Florida, it reigned. And so they put up their, I call it their little softball tent.
tarp and they were like, hey, you can come ahead and you can stand under here when it and that was really nice and you know, we stood because where the buses were was where the team bus was going to enter and then drop off the players and they were going to walk between the band lines and the cheerleader line. So we went up there and got to see that my son actually stood right at the exit of the bus that the
that the players. So he got to see them and he you guys get any interaction pictures autographs. He got some pictures. No, I mean, they had their game faces on. I mean, there, there was no looking at anybody when they were marching in. They were
They were ready to go. Coach is smart. You got it. I mean, it's such a big pop in circumstance. I got to get them out of that. Get them into the game mode. And they were ready to go. It was a fun game. Fun game.
Well, congratulations. I'm very happy for you. I like it was almost like I don't know a day later I'm being and I was going to show you this so you could order these for your Christmas tree next year. I was no, no, no, no. These were actual Alignite like from the game plays from the game Christmas ornaments.
for sale. Yeah, we'll probably get an email for that. Yeah. That was just like literally that is so cool. Like from the game, like actual plays. Oh, yeah. Love that. Yeah. Oh, yeah. The whole the whole game and the way Bila Macaula, it's on a it's on a little field where it says 2024 cheese citrus bowl champs and then like, oh, that's so cool. Yeah. Yeah. But I'm like, man, these sales people. You got to kind of love
We're being a fit in the hierarchy of things. He's very good for them. He's probably not going to the NFL. He's right about where he needs to be, I think. Listen, what you have, and you mentioned this earlier in the year, you know, at the beginning of the football season or sometime around maybe having coach over, you know, that the AD
finally feels like he's got his people like I went lovey smith swing for the fences and it's not moved to make it didn't work it didn't work but you feel now and mark mentioned this yesterday I believe that this may have been the greatest all around here for the Illinois athletic program when you look at the success of the ball basketball women's or serious program period everywhere all across the board
and all the stars feel like they're aligning to be something magical. I mean, you've got your second year in a row where there is just an unbelievable excitement about this basketball team with all new faces. I started over. Yeah. And trusted the process. So and believing you can do it and seeing you can do it and then rewarding the fan base that's been there for decades of up and down struggles. And it is a
It you asked me yesterday about the Falcons and they are one game away from either going to the playoffs or losing and being a disappointing season and no question it is disappointing.
but you asked me how I felt about it. And I felt good about it because it clear, they know what they're trying to do. They're building it the right way. Some things don't go as you want, but I trust that we're headed in the right way and it feels good. The Alignite, they've had more success. They just want a bowl game. Yeah, they're past that head. Yeah, but we're clearly like, all right, we had a down year. We'll be back next year. It feels good. Literally went and beat a team that was what rank five
places higher. You know, just like the basketball team did last night. So I think there's completion in what we have now. They ran into the best team in the NCAA tournament last year. You know, they just happened to run into them before it was the final four, but you know, no shame there. And now you've got this next level thing. And now you got the experience and it's
easier to recruit. It's easier. And Brett Billman may be thought of in South Carolina as the biggest a whole bully in the history of, but everybody else literally to everybody else. That mean he won every war. That's right. Well, and I kept looking at their coach and I'm like, I just wanted him to let him go and see what he would actually do. I just, I said, is he like a
a part of the Harbaugh family because all he did was wind the early family. It's the Hurley family you're looking for. No, the Harbaugh Jim and John are just whiners. Oh, no. Oh, oh, really? Yes. Not like the Hurley family. Well, all I know is I was like, hmm, I think he might be a long lost brother or something. But when
You know, John's catching some strays here. Jim's carrying the whining more than by far. That's true. But I'd still go to her lease. But, uh, yeah, I just want to, I just, I remember just, I was watching on my iPad. I have two iPads. I have a smaller one I use here. We're going to have a bigger one, like to watch stuff on. And I'm like,
Just let him go. What's he going to do? Because he's going to run like a dog that's tied to the fence because eventually that had things snapping back. Or he gets to build and then what?
I was going to say, I don't think this is a really good match up here. I think he'd do that. It'd be like, be like, I would just go. It reminds me like, when done, he'd slap him. Curly on the three stooges is doing his boxing and he holds out his belly and it makes that nose like boring. He'd run right into it. Well, and you didn't line him up. You didn't see what led up to that craziness when you were there on the right game. And then when we rewatched it together and then you're like, Oh,
But he got so I rate about that, but it was the everything. But there was there was a substitution. All of that. And what I wanted to ask you about that, because in context, because that's important, beyond just fandom, that because he was taking advantage of that rule, which there's, I mean, that was the rule, but then they got to the other fans were booing injuries because they were sick of him being slow about the substitutions.
that when he went out to check on that player, it wasn't just about, yeah, it was taunting the coach if you want to put it into the vernacular, but it was like quick boom. And when my guys are down, you know, that was he really he didn't come back. He didn't come back and play. I don't believe 25 can't
Yeah, I don't remember. But the fans were being kind of classless about, you know, you know, if you're going to boo about being slow, great. But it was guys down on the field and he legitimate when when I watched the replay when we were watching it, he he got a good need of the head and then it it was everybody at least clap when he got up. No.
didn't happen. No, no, I was going. Well, because by that point, the coach had sort of changed or tried to change the narrative by starting this big. No, I know. But I mean, almost always. Everybody kind of gives the, all right, he's up and then you move on. You boo.
See all the other. I was yelling like, wow, so much for Southern hospitality, blah, blah, blah. I was going crazy. The lines have been crossed. We love Angela. I don't think I could sit next to her to vote. I get a little muddy. His dad was the Virginia Tech coach that Michael Vic had. Frank Beamer. Oh, yeah. Yeah. He grew up. They showed some pictures of him as a kid on the sidelines.
But yeah, I mean, the whole substitution. Yeah, that that would have I would have been on the other side probably would have. Yeah, but you don't you don't boo. But what but what my husband and I were talking about like, well, you know how you fix that? You don't substitute as much. So then we don't substitute as much. And then you don't have to worry about it. That's what opens your
I would have given anything if they just wouldn't let him go. What's the end game here? No, you're not actually going over there to fight anybody. He was out on the field. He was really out there. But listen, I'm telling you.
in the meme war. There's just no contest outside of like wherever they play their home games in South Carolina, because it was the grin. And you don't see that. I'm just going crazy. But yeah, he was the smile on the side. I was laughing. I'm like, Oh, and it's now official. Topper told us in his segment, he saw or was listening to the Notre Dame game.
on the way in to do the show last night. And one of the announcer said, will you do a bill? And so now you got to get a new t-shirt. Well, and that's what we were talking about, actually, during the game. It's like, they're going to make a t-shirt about this. And we'll probably get one. That's right. Maybe we'll take it and get it signed.
Hey, you know what, you may have an opportunity to do that this year and I can't tell you anything yet, but that may be closer than you think. I'll tell you what, I think hearing from that coach and his career that is gone. I think he was in the NFL at one point and
And you know, he's definitely a big time at a big school. He was the player, right? We're for sure. And now it's like, all right, you have found something. You've made it work. You've got the resources. You've got the facilities. I would like to hear that patience and that because you're signing up for a midling to less than midling team in a conference where you're in the bottom portion of it. And now you're like, we belong here. We're good. Turned out pros. We're getting results. I would love to hear that story out of his mouth.
Well, and I, we were picked to finish 13th and we finished fourth, right? You know, and I look at this game and I know that they had running back that chose not to play and then a top defensive guy that chose not to play. And we had Pat. Sure. Oh yeah. And Pat is big. Oh yeah, he's going to. And I'm telling you right now, if we would have had Pat, that game would have been out of hand. I mean, because they were not respecting us.
when, when, um, Luke would go to drop back for a pass. They weren't, they weren't playing any. And so that started to happen. I'm like, just keep doing that. And if you want those big guys that can catch anything because it's taller and stronger. I'll tell you what, uh, our, our players stepped up, you know, it was fun. Zachari, he had some really good catches. Um,
It was it was literally there. There's been a couple of blowouts in these bowl games that have not been fun to watch. There's been a whole bunch of other games. It's a lot of fun. And I put the aligning game right up there. It was great wins. So congratulations. Awesome.
I feel like you're like our part of the team. You know, you're I'm going to ride this one for a long time. And then you know, the cherry on top was last night. So yeah, did you stay up for the game last night? I was up for the like the last seven minutes. I think we were up 17 or something. I went in to read, but I could hear I could hear my daughter upstairs screaming 10 to 15 seconds before my husband because the streaming was a little bit different. And so I'd be I'd be like, wait for honey. It's coming.
And then you did. It was awesome. The big win. I was looking at all some of the stats and it was unbelievable. I mean, just that game last night was history making. I mean, that's another thing where the one, you know, the bench points were amazing and you had the players had to step up because you had some big people in foul trouble. And yeah, to see Jake Davis do what he did. That was crazy, crazy.
I feel like I'm just happy living through you vicariously. Like, I, that would have been a great experience, but there's no way I'm driving to Orlando and getting there three hours before the game and standing in the rain and cheeses and, and, and whatever. It made the ride home a lot better. I'm sure it did. Can you imagine how long that 30 hour, you know, like that says, I've done that. I've driven home from a last second missed 20 yard field with a car full of bears fans.
is the, you don't want to sit in that last and you don't. Are there a car full of beer fans? I took him down with me and then I had to cart him home with a little alcohol and all of them. Yeah, that was poor planning on you. You're not wrong.
Because you're setting yourself up for that possibility. Even if we won, what they were just going to pat me on the back and then sell it. No, I was going to lose lose. I'd in retrospect, it shouldn't have happened. So the 10 win season now is this happened, what? Five times. Five times in the history. Yeah. I mean, go back to, you know, red greens and I mean, like the history.
which is amazing. Isn't it? So kudos. Congratulations. I'm glad you had fun. Thanks for the pics and yeah, checking in with us. I knew I had to send a couple. So yeah, those are good too. They actually they're like indicative of the whole thing. Yeah. And to be fair to you.
having that kettle of cheeses and where your seats were are the pictures that when people want to talk to you about it, you can go ding dang and here they are. And a wedding at that. We had a wedding. Nice. Yeah, don't do it. The cheese that I saw that got married in two minutes. What was his name? The mascot?
Chetty, Chetty, Chetty. Yeah, Chetty, literally married a couple. Love it. I always want to know who those people are. It was a contest that they wanted. No, I know that. But I want to know what the divorce rate is for those kind of things. No way. I know the two people have gotten married at the care celebration. Come on. That's way different. What's different? It's why would you want to do that in front of
And his cheese at orange tuck. I think I think that is there's I bet it has a higher rate than love is blind TV show. Well, I think that's not saying the bar high. I was going to say, can I just like step over that bar? I just don't know why anyone like I get why if you were in a line, I fan and you want to get married in a line, but why the cheese at angle? I have no idea. Well, because they're probably like,
We need to get married. Let's go do it. How do you want to do it? Well, okay. What do we know where? Well, you'll dress as a cheese and I'll dress as a cheese and we'll have a mascot cheese that Mary is in front of and then we'll drive around on a truck in front of a hundred thousand strangers on national TV. The best part is Chad D had to go get ordained and everything. He had to go through trading. And does he go? And he couldn't speak so I don't even know how that happened.
Yeah. I will lay you any odds you want to. That's done in a year. That's true love, I think. OK. Yeah. That's true something. It is cheesy. All right. Let's take a break. We'll get back. We had show and tell. I was feeling a little nostalgic. Earlier I started with you, the 50th anniversary cookbook.
from 1975. I now have found the program. Oh, wow. Yeah, I've seen that because I want to look through this. It's just a the names, but be some of the verbiage, which may be laugh this morning in a good way. But we're going to do that. Angela's got a bag. Is that a new bag? I think I've seen that. All right. Then it's new to you. I like the color. Yeah. New to you. All right. We'll find out what show and tell has to offer coming up on the other side of the break. Don't forget Monday morning. If you're wanting to see the

back here on a Friday. It's turned into a beautiful morning outside. I know the weather is cold, but the sun is out and skies are blue and that always helps a little when we're facing what we're facing Monday morning will be here. Whatever the situation might be. Just a quick reminder for schools.
You all have the information about closures and how to get to us and contact us. And if you haven't signed up for the text club, we do it individually by school so that you're not. Remember, you'd watch the scroll and you have to go through alphabetically. It's just an easy convenient way to do it. Sure. And we'll be doing that. If there are any, I'm not predicting. Don't know. It's a winter watch right now, which is better than when I went to bed last night. It was still a winter warning. So we've moved a little in the right direction. But Monday, it looks like it might be some slog coming in one way or another. So stay tuned and we'll have that information for you. OK, so what's what's in the bag? OK, well, you have to have a theme. All right. So this is a
they get it out. Oh my goodness. So this is your little cheese hat. I love it. You got to put it on. It's fun. And it's flat. It's about 10 inches, 12 inches square. Got a whole cut out. It looks like a sponge bob. Exactly. And you just put your face through it. And you there are a lot of different ways. You could wear it this way. We had we wore it this way and then flipped it up. Oh, nice. People wearing it just straight on top or as a picture frame type of deal.
love it. But yeah, so they were handing these out at your little pre party at the pre party. Yes. So that's a good one. Yeah. OK, so then in the game for either team that you were rooting for, you had your
little sign. So it's family with the I L L which is the culture that Brett has made is we are family. Yeah. And then on the other side, you didn't know he was a big sister sled. Yeah, right. So then you had both sides. Oh, okay. So they only gave the same one out to everyone. So one side was the game Cox dumbest name in football. So my daughter was getting a little bit annoyed with there were like two
probably around the college age behind us, and she's kind of like her mom when it comes to rooting. That's because you've set that tone. I know, it's been terrible. So like something would happen and she'd turn around and she'd display this in there.
I love the fact that after they won, she was talking about how nice the people were in the parking lot. But those two weren't, they were a little sad. They were getting what they call me back. But the rest of them were really cool. That's when you're like, yeah, holding right into their face.
And this is what they sold. Oh, nice. Cheese. It's OK. Hang on. It's got the line. I and the South Carolina logo. I actually look at the college football. The logo looks great. The two cheese. It's like footballs. Yeah, no doubt. Yeah. That's a really good looking box. So, yes, this is not going to get opened. Yeah, very nice. If they would have lost possibly had that done by the time you got back. Yes. Yes. Great.
So Nick, you said you wanted a pin. Oh, you did. So you got a pin. You're the best. And you're both getting a hundred year pin as well. Oh, yes. I wanted one of those. So, yeah. What's the one hundred year? The line eyes logo. Oh, yeah. It's a memorial stadium. So you're going to get such a good logo. OK. So that's what they had. Hundreds going around this year. Yeah. So that's the jersey that they wore to the Michigan game. Oh, yeah. So, yeah. So they're very nice. So there you go.
That's very cool. Well, we're going to get a special picture for the podcast. I got my cheese at shirt. You've got you're wearing it. I even got my line. I got my chief earrings. Yes. You even has one fingers. Chief ring. Chief ring. She is. She's a doll over the fingers. Yes.
Nothing but cheese it. That was is that the ad where they were trying to high five with their other hand because most people you right hand. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's orange dust. That's all. Yeah. And that's real life too. I kitty ate it in class. I'm like, come on, man. Gotta ban Cheetos. Okay. Quickly before we go to another last break. Are you a fan of the Nick Saban? Oh, gosh. Art. So funny. So funny. The commercials. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's funny.
I like that. He's no fun. That's a good hour. Three o'clock check. It's two fifty five. I know. I think it's a perfect. I don't have been around a while, but they were just inundating during the bowl games. All right. Let's do this. We've got to get a break out of the way. We'll come back more show and tell if you missed any show today podcast driven by the Bob Brady Auto Group, you can get them anywhere. You get your podcast, including the podcast section at now, Decatur.com.

cheese it. Citrus ball. It always felt like it had so much more cache to go of the citrus ball. Yeah. Well, if you read the articles about it, I know, depending on how much like if they're like, man, the align, I wonder of the citrus ball if they're adding the prestige. I look, I'm all for the product place, but I don't have any problem with that at all. They're meeting. They gave you so many cool things. Yeah, it's fun. They're souvenirs. It's fine. And they leaned into it. They did it right. They just put banners up. They leaned into it. Oh, for sure. For sure. Yeah.
So we were telling you earlier, this is WSOY's 100th birthday. This is our century tour this year. And I was looking back through some old stuff. And we talked a little bit earlier about the cookbook at the 50th anniversary marks of 50 years ago in 1975. I was what, nine years old? And so that's a long time ago. But I
I wanted to, this program is interesting and I don't know who this was handed out to advertisers or listeners or whatever. But once again, the gold. Yeah, it's about eight and a half by 11 looks like maybe three or four pages folded over. It's more than that. Oh, okay. Yeah. And a window is cut out, die cut in the middle. Yeah. And then there's a, like sort of that pants style paper that you could see through. Yeah. And then there is the microphone, which is a very 70s retro look.
But this was interesting to me because this was the first 50 years. And what did they decide to highlight in the first 50 years of WSOI? And what's crazy is how global or national and not local it was, even though it was, you know, highly, you know, involved local radio station. So they described prohibition, the crash, Lucky Lindy, Pearl Harbor, Hiroshima, man on the moon, the Cold War, Watergate.
So that is the opening salvo, which I thought was interesting because those are all either national or global stories. But of course, back in 19, you know, you didn't have TV. You didn't have, you know, so you're a lot of the stuff you consume now with CNN or Fox or whatever, you know, was coming through your local radio station. And then there's some great pictures in here of the modern day machinery.
And then I just looking at the clothing and just and then also the the Studio C. So you weren't around approaching so you don't have any of the context of what this was. But Studio C was the and if you were in
former mayor, Macquarie called it Little Kosovo, which was always kind of the nickname that stuck because not when it was built, but over the years, flat roof and all the other stuff. That was then turned into where Carolyn's office and traffic and everything. So it used to be a big studio when they would bring in bands and singers and do the, you know, the old
you know, kind of radio stuff. And then there's a great front picture of the curved insurance, which was always very unique. Heaviest doors I think I've ever come across in my life. Big glass heavy doors. Was that the first place you were?
Yeah. Me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But they moved there, you know, a long time before that. Was it built for the radio station? Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. But anyway, so there's a great picture. There's a combined 115 years of technical sales and on-air broadcasting experience. Orv Graham, Will Miller, Hank Haines, Alan Doyle, and Jules Robinette. And if you are sort of a history buff throughout all the time, you recognize certainly a lot of those names. And then I'm looking at the state of the art. Hmm.
That's awesome. Stay of the art. Those pictures all sepia tone. Yeah, there's a look. I don't. Yeah, I would call it close to CP. I don't know that that's the exact. Just the tinge of it. Yeah. And I'm looking at all the real, the size of basically the brains of the operation, the tower, all the stuff that was there. And then, of course, there's radio park in 1975. And it also has the
Yeah, because it's got to fold around. Yeah. Although they look like spider webs, which I'm never really understanding either. But hey, 1975. Wow, that's pretty neat. Yeah. Mm-hmm. 50 years ago. And it's still, I can't believe how good a shape it is. Yeah, that's. I don't know where you found it.
I have squirrel. Look, look, this is the great sad thing about history is that we throw it away. And I say we collectively and sometimes it just gets outright pilfered. You know, we started as WJBL radio and when we signed on in 1925 and there was another station that was licensed to Milliken University, those two combined and then became WSOY.
WJBL, we had one of the WJBL mics. I mean, it's you're going back to, you know, the 1930s or late 20s, early 30s. And it's infamous, like, where your one group sells to another group and then all of a sudden somebody just takes something on the way out because they want it. I hated that.
Yeah, it's like they're almost like they want their own little souvenir. But yes, but I'm not naming names and it doesn't even matter. But it's like that belongs to the history of this product, not to you just because you owned it for a little while. Yeah, it's weird.
Not a fan of that. Yeah. So I have tried to, at best, from the move from Pershing to downtown to downtown to this downtown to try to keep some of that stuff around and make sure that it stays in, you know, and so I've got a couple of tubs, you know, full of that stuff that we've managed to sort of salvage and hold on to it. It's not nearly as much as it should be, though. You're like Dr. Henry Jones or Indiana Jones.
No, it is. I just because I want whoever sitting in this chair 40 years from now to be able to do the same thing. That's very cool. Be careful. It might still be you. 40 years from now. I don't think. Thank you. Wouldn't it be? Yeah, like a Dodgers broadcaster is going to be here forever. Not sure if it was doing it 119. But yes, close. Hey, like Nick said,
It's going to happen. Yeah, I miss Vince. Yeah, he's good. OK, so I cheated on my show and tell because I was told to bring something in. So I did. I brought in this cool Lego thing. It's the infinity dot from Thanos from the Avengers.
and I got it wired up and running. I got a light kid to it. So the Jules on the infinity stones and there's even a little spotlight down on the base that that spotlights the logo and everything. So you had that planned, didn't you?
well, no, I didn't plan to bring it in. I forgot to bring it in. But I had a plan to be my show and I was like, here, I got to bring something. I might as well bring this. It's pretty cool. That is cool. And the reason why I think it's pretty cool is you can buy these little light kids. They're fairly inexpensive. And you've got to take disassemble the thing, put it, wire them in, loop them in, put these tiny little lights that fit inside a stud. You had to disassemble it. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Got to wire the whole thing. Why don't they just
bring the kit with it. Well, if you could have probably wired it as you're going. Yeah. So that so it doesn't buy a box and how ridiculous price it doesn't actually come with the lights. No, no, no, no. You buy an aftermarket kit and then you have to take it all apart and start over. That's that's it. Well, you take it off in clumps. So there you go. It's all lit up. And I even wired it to not only do battery, but also USB.
Oh, Lord. So you can just assemble it however you like. It's very cool and very nerdy on many, many, many levels. Yeah. Well, yeah, it's the nerdiest thing about it all is that I have a bunch of Lego sets that are not built. And I'm just over here like doing somebody else's.
That's the nerdiest part of the whole thing. It's like I'm just Lego and somebody That's that's Angela's son. Oh, she brought it to me goes here. Do this. I mean, please And it's like well, yeah, so you did all that extra work for somebody who never met Well, I mean it's Angeles. Well, no, I get that family to family You know, that's how you do it hashtag family. That's I mean look I got a I got a pin
Yeah, so that that's a lot of fun and for Lego people out there that like to build listen see if there's
like I haven't done this for years. I was very fond of it. When our guy was little, little, there was nothing more mesmerizing for him to be in that aisle at Target. Oh, yeah. And then you go get the $100 sat and then you could do all your shopping because he just sit in the cart looking at the box. I do the same thing if I didn't have to navigate. I love looking. I look at Lego every probably three times a week. Really? Yeah, I love my daughters doing a Lego right now. And he got the shield.
Oh, nice. Yeah, he finished that in like two days. During the football, that's been a big preview of the movie coming in February, right? I can't wait. Yeah. I think that's maybe I hope it does what it possibly could. It's got the right characters to look. Harrison Ford is Red Hulk. I mean, you could be good. Get back to what they were good at. Speaking of Harrison Ford, or at least Indiana Jones, they released a game on Xbox. It'll go to other platforms.
And it's wildly successful. Disney's loving it. It is a blast. It feels like you're playing the movie. So anybody that Indiana Jones. Yeah. It's Indiana Jones in the Great Circle or the Golden Circle. And it is a lot of fun. It's low stakes or tie stakes. However, you want to play it. You can play it real casually or you can try to do all the mysteries and stuff, but a lot of fun. Great video game. OK.
Yeah, we had the Lego Indian love again. It's fun to that my son and husband played constantly and my daughter ended up playing with them too. And oh my gosh, it's easy to pick up and run around and collect yelling at each other. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm like, oh my god. It's supposed to be fun. Yeah. Thanks.
All right. We're going to get a couple of minutes left here. What do you know? I meant to ask you this earlier, Nick, about the two documentaries that I think people will find fascinating. The first one is the Christopher Reeve Superman documentary. It's not about Superman. It's about Superman and Christopher Reeve, which I have not had a chance to watch. But I've heard I think it's available on Max. Yes.
I think CNN is going to run it. If you don't have Max coming this sometime this month. The second is a Kobe Bryant documentary that I saw that and served up ads about the making of a legend. I think is what it's called. Do you know anything about that at all? No, no. And I'm a little nervous about that because he's very prickly and there are a lot of things to not like about him. And I'm
I'm not sure if I want to verify. Yeah. You know, I just read the thing is I think most of the greats are. I think most of the greats walked around with a chip on their shoulder. I and if they didn't have a chip, they invented one. Michael Jordan did it over and over and over again. You know, Tiger Woods. I don't know that you ever get to that level, right? Without being complicated. Sure. Yeah. I'm just saying I'm personally he is who he is. Yeah.
were you a fan? Yeah, for sure. It didn't feel like this was just kind of tear down the ledge. And this felt like more like, I don't know, I just put it on your radar screen. Oh, thank you. I watched one about Lisa Frank. It's awesome. Check it out. I didn't even know who Lisa Frank is. Trapper Keeper, all the unicorns, all that art and stuff from the 80s and 90s. Nope.
I mean, Trevor, like as in the, okay. Okay. I'm real in this one back in the last 10 seconds. That's it for us. Be safe on Monday. We'll be here for you with all the information you may or I mean that and hopefully we don't need it. Have a great weekend. We'll see you Monday.
